Non-alcoholic drinks, a fast-growing trend

Did you know that the non-alcoholic drinks market has increased in the last few years and will keep on doing so? Find out why and which are trendy at this very moment.

Non-alcoholic drinks, a rising market

According to several studies, it has been found that the sector has experienced a significant increase in recent years. Indeed, in 2022 it rose to 9 %. Additionally, non-alcoholic beer was the most popular with a 70 % preference (Wynne-Jones, 2023).

Equally, this market is expected to grow 31 % in 2024. Another interesting fact is that the United States of America, Germany and Spain are the ones pushing it the furthest (Holland, 2022).

Regarding said aspects, this growth has generated a reinvention. So much so that the companies producing alcoholic drinks have developed options like these too.

Why are non-alcoholic drinks so popular?

There are various reasons for this growth. Among them (Wynne-Jones, 2023):

The new generation of non-alcoholic drinks

It has been observed that millennials as well as Generation Z, are less interested in drinking alcohol. Statistics show that the latter population drinks 20 % less than the former.

More awareness

At the same time, there is more relevant information about excessive intake. Accordingly, manufacturers have reinvented themselves to tackle the skepticism regarding this consumption.

Covid-19 restrictions

The pandemic also affected the situation. During the quarantines, there was an increase of 31 % in the alcoholic drink market. This was linked to consequences like anxiety and depression.

Thus, youngsters are more cautious about those products and prefer non-alcoholic drinks.

Lifestyle

This is another decisive factor. New generations are more concerned about their physical and mental well-being. Hence, they prefer this kind of drinks.

Non-alcoholic drink trends

These are some of the trendy drinks (Rubix Foods, s.f.):

  • Non-alcoholic coctels. This is a great choice when hanging out with friends or acquaintances. Also, it is the perfect way to enjoy fruit pulp.

  • Carbonated drinks. Hard seltzers are among these, besides other beverages that feature fruit juice flavors. Those can be lime and lemon, grapefruit and lemon, lemon and berries/yellow fruits (Infobae, 2022).

  • Functional beverages. These drinks promote intestinal wellness. For instance, kombucha and nootropics are part of menus and have become really popular.

  • Energizing drinks. These are great alternatives to coffee and keep growing stronger in this market. Additionally, they include vegetable energy. Here we can find moringa (horseradish tree or drumstick tree), mate and cascara sagrada.

  • Bubble teas. These have increased a 44,1 %. Bubble teas consist of pearls filled with tapioca that give an extra sensorial experience. They are usually prepared with vegetal drinks.

  • Whipped lemonades. Frozen beverages with condensed milk or cream. They can be prepared with pulps and chunks of fruit. It all depends on what the client asks for.

Now that you know a little bit more about non-alcoholic drinks, bring yourself to explore more and try this nonstop trend.
